Anastasios Apsemidis

Anastasios Apsemidis, Ph.D. is a post-doc researcher in Statistics at the Department of Primary Education, School of Education, University of Ioannina (UOI). The title of his work is “Synthesis of Mean Survival Times for Cost Effectiveness Analyses”.

Training: He has studied Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, School of Sciences, UOI, where he also received the specialty certificate of “Statistics and Operational Research”. He obtained his M.Sc. in Statistics at the Department of Statistics, School of Information Sciences and Technology, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), where he completed the Thesis “Statistical Learning Methods Applied to Process Monitoring”. He also obtained his Ph.D. in Statistics from AUEB with the Thesis entitled “Bayesian Evidence Synthesis for the Analysis of Biomedical Data”.

Research interests: His research topics are Survival analysis, Epidemic modeling, Statistical process control, Machine learning, Financial econometrics and Meta-analysis.

Academic experience: During his Ph.D., he undertook ancillary work of exams supervisions and labs teaching. He taught the labs for R Programming (for which he was awarded by the Department of Statistics, AUEB for his teaching performance) and Biostatistics, while he was also a seminar host for three semesters, teaching a series of Microsoft Excel seminars (for which he also received a praise letter for teaching performance by the Department). He has represented the Department at various events and he has participated in numerous conferences and workshops presenting his work in both national and international events.

Professional experience: He has worked as a Statistician in clinical trials and projects in Greece and Austria. He has competed in national and European data analysis contests and has been awarded by the Greek Statistical Institute for “Best Statistics Paper Award for Young Statisticians 2022”. Finally, he has worked as a Mathematician in public high schools for four years.
